The life insurer has announced the appointment of several insurance industry stalwarts as it broadens its capabilities in the group insurance segment.
Chief group insurance officer Sean Williamson has expanded his team with a number of appointments that have “strong partnership credentials with superannuation funds and master trusts”.
“Insurance inside superannuation is experiencing significant change in light of COVID-19, and we need to ensure we’re providing the right support and expertise to super funds as they navigate their way through this period,” Mr Williamson said.
Emily Wu has been appointed general manager for fund partnerships, with a focus on the acquisition of new fund partners as well as managing relationships with existing partners. She has previously held product roles at AIA Australia and CommInsure.
Suzie Brown has been appointed as general manager for MLC wealth and corporate partnerships. Prior to joining MLC Life, Ms Brown was the general manager of distribution at Integrity Life and holds management experience with large industry super funds.
Craig Harrison has been appointed general manager for product, pricing, and proposition (group). He previously led CommInsure’s group insurance business, managing relationships with major industry fund and master trust clients.
“Our goal is to play a larger role in the group insurance market and genuinely challenge the more established group insurers,” Mr Williamson said.
“To do this we need to build our expertise and partnership credentials, and we’re thrilled to appoint Suzie, Craig and Emily to our team. They have partnered with some of [the] largest industry and retail superannuation funds and know what it means to see issues through the lens of our funds, trustees and members.”
