Insignia announces internal CTO appointment

As the bidding war for Insignia Financial continues, the firm has announced an internal appointment to its C-suite to further its FY2030 strategy.

In his first executive role, Damien O’Donnell has been appointed as Insignia Financial’s chief technology officer following nearly two decades with the firm.

Prior to commencing the role on 6 January, O’Donnell was most recently the general manager, wrap technology and operation, in which he built the proprietary technology and operational teams for Insignia’s wrap business.

Prior to this, O’Donnell held a number of senior technology roles, from head of platform technology and design to general manager of architecture, data and platforms.

Insignia chief executive Scott Hartley said he is pleased to welcome O’Donnell to the firm's executive team.

“Damien brings to this role a deep understanding of the technology and financial services industries and will be an integral part of the execution of our FY2030 Strategy,” Hartley said.

“Damien’s appointment is a testament to the calibre of people we have within Insignia Financial, and our commitment to fostering and developing leaders across the business to support our ambition to be the leading and most efficient wealth management company by 2030.”

In an ASX announcement late last year, Insignia announced a new business strategy, focusing on technology and product innovation, cost optimisation and simplification, to reach its goals.

The firm said in the ASX announcement at the time, its strategy for the 2026–30 financial years will unlock “the value of its brands, building a high-performance culture, becoming an AI-enabled organisation and delivering positive outcomes for customers and shareholders”.
