Boutique licensee spruiks ‘first-class offer’ as adviser recruitment tool

Intelligent Planning says it aims to continue its growth as it looks for “like-minded advisers” who share a vision for the future of the profession.

According to Intelligent Planning managing director Phil Osborne, the boutique licensee will have 20 advisers under its banner by the end of 2024.

“This is the result of a careful, two-way selection process. We look for like-minded advisers who not only meet our criteria, but who also share our vision of the future for the profession,” Osborne said at Intelligent Planning’s inaugural conference on the Gold Coast.

“In turn, they recognise that our offer provides them with what they want from a licensee partner, as well as what they need.”

Osborne said the licensee is focusing on providing an offering that frees advisers up to work with their clients.

“We view ourselves very much as partners to their businesses and we believe they view us in much the same way,” he said.

“We offer our advisers a flat licence pricing model, which we invoice on a monthly basis. We pay fees and commissions back to advisers weekly. We are software agnostic, meaning advisers can use whatever technology works best for them in their practices.

“But perhaps most importantly, we are collegial and actively foster a culture of community. We believe this is important not just for us and them, but to the ongoing evolution of the advice profession.”

He added that, given the dynamic and continuously changing nature of the financial advice profession, having advisers supporting each other is vital.

“The profession must take the best of the past and marry it to the demands of the future,” he said.

“A collegial relationship between licensees and their advisers is one way to encourage and enable that.”

Intelligent Planning’s advice distribution manager, Matthew Wallis, added: “Our inaugural financial advice conference is just the beginning. We are continuing our search for like-minded advisers and are excited for what the future holds.”

The licensee, which rebranded from Dirigere Advisory and relaunched in January, previously noted that it launched to fill a gap in the market.

“We saw a widening gap in the financial planning landscape between what today’s professional financial adviser community really wants from a licensee and what the market currently delivers. Intelligent Planning is designed to help fill that gap,” Osborne said at the time.

“Listening to our financial advice practices informed the new Intelligent Planning offer and gave us the confidence to move forward with it.

“Key elements include a flat licence pricing model, the ability for advisers to speak directly with an internal industry expert on a peer-to-peer basis and a culture of community.”
