A new structure is set to be introduced.
Challenger has announced changes to its leadership team to coincide with plans to form a new customer-centric business.
The company said the new division will “encompass all customer functions for the group and will leverage the skills that currently sit across the business”.
An internal and external search for a chief customer officer to lead the division will commence shortly.
Challenger’s current chief executive, life, Angela Murphy, will support the company’s transition before departing.
Anton Kapel, chief financial officer, life and appointed actuary is confirmed to be taking on the role of CEO, life and solutions, and will join the leadership team from 1 June 2022.
Challenger managing director and CEO, Nick Hamilton, said the new division will help meet the company’s vision of expanding customer reach.
“The chief customer officer will play an important role in driving our efforts to bring the best of Challenger to more customers,” Mr Kapel said.
“Anton has extensive investment experience and a deep understanding of our business. Combined with 17 years of experience in senior financial services, he is the ideal candidate to drive growth and lead our life and solutions team.
“I would also like to thank Angela for her significant contribution to our business over the last 10 years. She has delivered outcomes for both our customers and shareholders, including the life business’ highly successful diversification strategy.”
