The life insurer has appointed a former technology executive from NAB and AIA Australia to lead its innovation drive.
Rick Wingfield has taken the role of chief innovation and transformation officer (CITO), replacing acting CITO Tahir Tanveer.
Mr Wingfield was most recently the global CITO of Catapult, a listed sports performance technology company where he led a team of 130.
Prior to that, he was general manager of innovation at Australia Post as well as having been chief information officer at AIA Australia, and head of technology at NAB, where he worked with MLC Life Insurance during its integration with Aviva.
MLC Life Insurance chief executive Rodney Cook commented that the appointment is an important step forward in delivering the company’s technology transformation and business strategy.
“Rick joins us at a critical time in our journey as we deliver on our current business plans and beyond,” Mr Cook said.
Mr Wingfield added he was excited to be rejoining the life insurance industry.
“We have much work to do to improve the experience of customers and our partners when they engage with our products, services and systems,” he said.
